Our Vision

Building on our Core Values, our Vision is thatBy God’s grace and the empowering of the Holy Spirit, the Kirk of the Hills seeks to increasingly become a church that glorifies its Head Jesus Christ in these ways:

WHEN WE ARE REACHING AND TRANSFORMING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY WITH THE GOSPEL, IT WILL BE SAID OF US THAT:

As we live out the gospel individually and corporately, the lives of people in our midst (friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers) are transformed by the power of God.  As partakers of His grace, we are each compelled by His love, motivated by His Word, and guided by His Spirit to be Christ's representatives in our everyday environment.  We intentionally involve ourselves with those in our sphere of influence and seek to understand their thinking and aspirations.  We develop a comprehensible biblical world view which we are equipped to winsomely convey.  We have a passion to demonstrate and communicate the gospel in word and deed to all of those naturally around us.  We illustrate to a watching world how the gospel transforms all of life.  We display our authentic love for one another.  We create a welcoming and safe environment for unbelievers in our midst.
Matt 5:14-16; John 20:21; 1 Cor 9:19-23; Col 4:5-6; 2 Thess 2:16-27; 1 Thess 1:5-10; John 13:35; 2 Cor 4:1-7

WHEN WE ARE LIVING AS A LOVING AND AUTHENTIC CONGREGATION, IT WILL BE SAID OF US THAT:

We biblically and proactively care for all members of our church community by intentionally connecting, comforting, challenging, admonishing, and encouraging one another, and helping to meet one another’s needs. As a community, we are authentic and vulnerable with each other, practicing repentance and forgiveness as followers of Christ, just as He has forgiven us. We are able to make our needs known, care for each other, pray for each other, and be involved in Kirk ministry and each other’s lives. We are accountable and continually helpful to each other in seeking through the Holy Spirit’s work in us to become more like Christ in our interactions with each other and the world at large.

WHEN OUR CORPORATE WORSHIP IS CHRIST-CENTERED AND ENGAGING, IT WILL BE SAID OF US THAT:

Our corporate worship of the triune God helps participants to be passionately engaged mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and verbally in His praise.  We worship in a way that recognizes His holiness and His glory as present among us and our humanity as His image-bearers.  Our worship is true to His word, gospel-centered, theologically rich, led by the Holy Spirit, and transformational in the hearts and lives of participants. Our worship honors our reformed heritage in a way that is culturally accessible to a wide range of Christians and winsomely calls all people to faith in Christ.

WHEN WE ARE EFFECTIVELY CONNECTING EVERY PERSON AT THE KIRK TO OUR CONGREGATION THROUGH ASSIMILATION, IT WILL BE SAID OF US THAT
:

We recognize that God the Father gives spiritual gifts through the Son by the Spirit to each Christian and hence to the Kirk. Individuals know their gifts and are equipped to serve the ministry needs both in our congregation and in our community. We connect people to each other and to our congregation by enabling them to serve according to their passion. By God’s grace, we reflect the truth that serving together enables us to experience and demonstrate a truly transparent, loving, and authentic community to a watching world.

WHEN WE ARE MINISTERING EFFECTIVELY TO ALL SEGMENTS OF OUR CONGREGATION, IT WILL BE SAID OF US THAT:

We understand that the gospel takes people from all walks of life and unites them together in Christ. Therefore, by God’s grace and the power of His Spirit, we are becoming a church family that reflects the richness and diversity of our local community. We offer vibrant and relevant ministries that give people a place to belong, worship genuinely, grow in their relationship with God, and use their gifts to serve God and build His kingdom and reach the world.
Rom 12; Ps 68:6; 1 Cor 12:4-7, 12-13, 25-27; Gal 3:28

WHEN WE ARE MINISTERING THE GOSPEL TO THOSE WHO LIVE BEYOND OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, IT WILL BE SAID OF US THAT:

We are a people committed to building the kingdom in all parts of God’s creation. We will be an effective enabling, and equipping resource within the PCA as God gives us opportunities. We will be a church-planting and strengthening resource in the U.S. and the world. Our people will sacrificially give to and minister in many parts of God’s world as the Holy Spirit enables them. We will develop future pastoral and lay leaders for the U.S. church and beyond. We will partner with other reformed and evangelical ministries to impact God’s world for God’s Glory.
